This page explains what information BITis may collect, why it is used, when it may be shared, how it is protected, and how users can contact BITis about privacy-related requests.
Data we collect
BITis may collect information needed to operate the marketplace and fulfil transactions. This may include your name, email address, phone number, login details, account profile information, delivery addresses, delivery instructions, location details and map coordinates you provide, cart and checkout information, order history, seller or shop information, product listings, product photos, shop logos or cover images, support messages, buyer and seller messages, return or complaint information, review content, device information, notification tokens, notification preferences, app usage information, and information submitted through the BITis mobile app or the website at bitis.africa.
BITis may also process payment-related records such as payment method type, payment status, transaction references, payment provider responses, refund or dispute details, and fraud-prevention information. Card numbers, CVV codes, and other sensitive card entry details are handled by the payment provider's secure checkout systems and are not stored by BITis.
If you upload or submit photos, images, messages, return evidence, product information, shop information, or support content, BITis may store and process that content so the marketplace, seller tools, customer support, returns, reports, and dispute processes can work.
Why we use data
We use data to manage accounts, process orders and payments, support deliveries, prevent fraud, provide support, improve the app and website, enforce platform policies, review seller activity, handle returns or disputes, send service-related messages, and comply with legal obligations.
BITis may also use notification tokens and notification preferences to send order updates, delivery updates, account or security messages, seller alerts, support notices, and promotional deal alerts. Promotional notifications may relate to products, shops, categories, sub-categories, campaigns, offers, or marketplace updates. You can turn promotional notifications off in the BITis app or through your device notification settings.
Your rights
You can request deletion, correction, or support regarding your account data. Some records may be retained for fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal compliance, or transaction history.
You can submit account deletion requests from the BITis app where available, or contact BITis using the details below. Deletion requests are reviewed so that active orders, disputes, fraud prevention needs, legal duties, and transaction records can be handled appropriately before data is removed or retained as required.

Security and retention
BITis applies reasonable measures to protect personal data, but no online system can guarantee absolute security. BITis uses secure service providers such as Firebase and payment provider systems, and data is protected in transit where supported by those services. Access to administrative and seller information is limited through account permissions, security rules, and server-side checks.
Data may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary for account operation, transactions, delivery, support, fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal compliance, tax or accounting records, and operational records. When information is no longer reasonably needed, BITis may delete, anonymise, or retain it only as required for legitimate business or legal purposes.
